Sometimes even with proper sun protection (fun-screen!), you might still get a sunburn. Everyone’s different, so depending on the color and sensitivity of your skin and the amount of time you spend in the sun, you could come home from a great day at the beach or pool and realize that your skin hurts! It’s not fun to have a sunburn. It stings when you touch it. It stings when you shower. IT JUST STINKS.
One of the easiest things you can do to alleviate your skin is to put a cold, damp towel on the areas that hurt. This will help cool down your skin fast. Once you’ve done this, a great way to help your skin heal faster is to use aloe vera. Aloe vera looks like jelly and comes from the leaves of an aloe vera plant. It also has a cooling effect and moisturizes your skin properly, so it’s a great, natural way to make your skin feel better.
When you buy an aloe vera moisturizer, just make sure to keep away from any "-caine" ingredients like benzocaine and lidocaine. Some say that these ingredients help a little with your pain, but there is a risk that your skin will become more irritated, so it’s better to avoid them. Another ingredient to stay away from is petrolatum. It can trap the heat inside, which is not what you want at all!
Most importantly, make sure you drink plenty of water. It helps your skin replenish and prevents you from getting dehydrated.
